general guidelines for after care
KEEP AREA CLEAN, but do not wash with soap for 4 days. Do not rub skin vigorously when washing for at least 10 days.
Occasionally people will experience redness or swelling for 2 or 3 days. 1 in 25 people may even experience a light bruising which will disappear quickly. If there is any swelling, apply an ice pack to the area for 10 minute sessions. For several days following the procedure, you may experience light bruising.
DO NOT rub or traumatize the procedure area(s) while it is healing, as pigment may be removed along with crusting tissue.
AVOID contact with animals, gardening, sun, sauna, jacuzzi, chlorine pools, ocean, steam room for 10 days to preserve color for longer. For at least 30 days, avoid swimming in pools or hot tubs. If you must use a pool or hot tub, keep area as dry as possible and use a light coat of petroleum jelly/ointment on area before entering pool.
After approximately 3 days, you may feel itching. This does not mean you are allergic to the pigment, but the flaking process has started to take place. Ice the area for a few minutes to alleviate the feeling. Apply Aquaphor thereafter. When area begins to flake, DO NOT PICK at the flakes. Allow them to flake naturally; early removal of pigment crust may result in areas with insufficient pigment.
DO NOT USE products that contain AHA’s on the procedure area(s). For example, glycolic, lactic acids. ALWAYS check your product labeling as these products will fade your pigment color.
DO NOT APPLY makeup to the tattooed area for at least 5 days.
DO NOT WASH/USE make up remover on the procedure area(s) or apply makeup for 48 hours following procedure. Do not touch the procedure area(s) with your fingers as they may have bacteria on them and create an infection. USE a clean cotton swab to apply Aquaphor Ointment 3 times daily for 7 - 10 days. We suggest Aquaphor Ointment as it is non-reactive for most clients.
Most permanent make up procedures are a multi-step process. Final results CANNOT be determined until touch-up application is completed. The touch-up is intended to fill in any discoloration caused by the healing and scabbing process. The procedure area may remain lighter or darker throughout the entire healing process. THIS IS NORMAL. We strongly suggest all of our clients to make an appointment to come in to let us see the procedure area(s) whether or not they feel they need a touch-up.
One touch-up visit is free and must be completed 8-12 weeks after the initial procedure. You will lose your free touch-up if you fail to have it done at that time. If you fail to show up for your touch-up appointment there will be an additional charge.
Once fully healed, wear SPF 30 sunscreen over the procedure area(s) to preserve color for longer.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF INFECTION** include but are not limited to: severe redness, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site. Discharge from site may be green/yellow in color and foul in odor.
**CONTACT camoglam beauty inc. and SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION if any signs or symptoms of infection develop.
